Abstract

In this paper the author tries to give a fair description and interpretation of the life of Baptist Churches in the period of transition from Monarchy to Republic in postbellic Romania, based on many unprecedented archive documents. The main focus of the paper is the problem of religious freedom in this very shifty period. Because of the persecution endured between the two world wars and during the nationalist and fascist regime of Antonescu, the self proclaimed absolute leader of Romania between 1940 and 1944, the Romanian Baptists tried to cope with the new situation established in their country at the end of the war, which seemed to be far better than before. Religious freedom was granted for all, first by His Royal Majesty King Michael and afterwards by the communists who managed to force the King into exile and transformed Romania into a republic. Though the communists were granting religious freedom through a new constitution they weren’t really committed to the idea of freedom, because of their proletarian revolutionary believes. This reluctance to offer religious freedom was encouraged by historical precedents in which the Orthodox Church managed to drive the state into a sinister partnership of persecuting those who were considered sects, dangerous for an Orthodox nation. In these circumstances, and tired from being persecuted, Baptist leaders and Baptist churches were forced into an unusual relationship with the communists. First it seemed that there couldn’t be any wrong or any danger in having a relationship with the state which is willing to grant religious freedom even for religious minorities. But in an atheistic and communist state religious freedom becomes a utopia.

Abstract
How much do we learn about God and about forgiveness when we are dealing with betrayal, infidelity and sin in the Body of Christ? This article argues that the forgiveness that God offers when confession derives from real self-knowledge is properly regarded as healing. And that healing is the restoration of balance in that sense that it will enable the minister to receive forgiveness and to begin a new phase of his spiritual journey, teaching the people about real forgiveness and sharing with them the painful journey of forgiveness.

Abstract
Our day ethic is somewhere debated, most of the time in attempt to define if there is a common base or there is no one due to the postmodernist influence. A view on ethics that is considered as conservative is the Christian Ethics, mostly due to the absolutes and Universalist views in ethics, views that are considered by most postmodernist as being outdated and inappropriate to impose to society. What are the differences between the Postmodern and Christian view on ethics? Are there any common grounds to build on? Is there an impact on Christian daily life and spirituality? To those questions and others that are not included, I will try to answer through this article in order to clarify this interaction between postmodernist view on ethics and Christian view on morals.

One of the most profound subjects in the letters of Paul is the ministry of the Spirit in the believer. To have a good understanding of Paul’s teaching you need to take into consideration the literary devices and concepts used by Paul to describe the ministry of the Spirit. This article is a succinct analysis of the metaphors and comparisons (similarities and antithesis, paradoxes) used in Paul’s letters.

Abstract
From the very outset of Scripture, and therefore for those believing these Scriptures, the works of God are revealed and recognized. The Psalter teaches us to incorporate them in private and public worship, and to reframe and contextualize them for our day and age, the era of the mighty deed of building the church. What I meant to do in this paper is to call us to the Psalter for private devotions and liturgical gathering. To do so is to step liturgically into God’s story which is not science fiction, but historical participation.

Abstract
In this study the author will analyze two important Old Testament themes on which the author of the Fourth Gospel is building the meaning of his gospel narratives: 1) the theme of the suffering son and 2) the theme of the leaving prophet and the disciple remaining prophet. The study is analytical, based on specific Hebrew narrative parallelism, in which the sequences of a narrative provide a pattern for future biblical narratives. Based on the text, at the end the author will propose a literary paradigm for each theme. Finding internal narrative paradigms used in the Fourth Gospel is a valuable and fruitful exercise in terms of hermeneutic. The interpretation of the Fourth Gospel’s narratives is enriched by a correct understanding of the use of Old Testament literary and theological themes and also of the Old Testament narrative patterns.

Profesor Vasile Talpoș despre modul în care au reușit baptiștii români să tipărească în anii 80 Biblia Cornilescu

Pornind de la interesul pe care Emanuel Conțac îl arată față de Biblia Cornilescu am prezentat nu cu mult timp în urmă unele informații succinte despre tipărirea Bibliei Cornilescu în țară sub titlul Când au tipărit ortodocşii „Biblia baptistă”? – un posibil răspuns.

Între timp am găsit informații noi, conexe cu cele prezentate anterior, motiv pentru care în acest articol voi relua și o parte din cele publicate în articolul amintit pentru o mai bună înțelegere a subiectului și a cadrului în care se desfășurau evenimentele la care fac referire. Din motivele enunțate recomand pe lângă celelalte articole ale lui Emanuel Conțac, dintre care unul poate fi accesat aici și pe cel mai recent care tratează problema dreptului de autor asupra Bibliei Cornilescu. Titlul lui Emanuel este sugestiv: Cine deține copyrightul pentru Biblia Cornilescu? Noi și interesante evoluții…

Până vom reuși să dezlegăm toate ițele problemei reiau fragmentul menționat anterior la care aduc completări noi din cadrul unui interviu al Profesorului Vasile Talpoș.

În cadrul unui mesaj datorat atitudinii BOR față de vânzarea împreună cu ziarul Adevărul a „Bibliei neoprotestante” rostit în luna aprilie 2012 la Biserica Nădejdea, pastorul Vasile Talpoş a relatat succint despre modul în care a reușit să tipărească Biblia, Ediția Cornilescu în România.

Din ceea ce îmi aduc aminte, evenimentul la care făcea referire pastorul Vasile Talpoș a avut loc în preajma vizitei lui Billy Graham în România (1985) sau curând după aceea. (Din interviu de mai jos rezultă ca acest lucru s-a petrecut la scurt timp după vizita lui Billy Graham în România și într-o anumită măsură a fost favorizat de aceasta).

Demersurile au fost inițiate înainte de vizita evanghelistului american tocmai pentru a folosi vizita acestuia ca pretext în obținerea aprobărilor necesare tipăririi Bibliei în România. Astfel, după ce a apărut ideea tipăririi Bibliei în România, Vasile Talpoș s-a dus la Departamentul Cultelor împreună cu Mihai Hușanu, unde au avut o serie de discuții cu (sau și cu) directorul Roșianu (?) în cadrul cărora s-a menționat necesitatea tipăririi unei Biblii pe care să o folosească evanghelicii. Pentru a obține aprobarea acesta a invocat interese de stat menționând că în acest fel se dovedea libertatea religioasă pe care România o proclama iar oficialii veniți cu Billy Graham vor putea constata acest fapt.

Următoarea etapă după obținerea aprobării din partea autorităților române a fost aceea de a obține acordul părții engleze. În acest scop, pastorul Vasile Talpoș, care cred că la momentul respectiv era vicepreședinte al Federației Baptiste Europene (1985-1987), a zburat la Londra și a avut discuții cu oficialii Societății Biblice Britanice, instituție care deținea drepturile de autor asupra versiunii Cornilescu. După ce a primit dreptul de a tipări în țară Biblia, acesta a stat o zi pe la ușile funcționarilor de la Societatea Biblică pentru a obține filmele după care putea să o tipărească.

Întors în țară s-a confruntat cu o altă problemă, aceea că baptiştii şi nici ceilalţi evanghelici nu aveau o tipografie proprie, fapt pentru care cea mai bună soluție a fost să apeleze la tipografia Patriarhiei.

Astfel, baptiștii au reușit să-şi tipărească Biblia la ortodocși.

Ca urmare a vizitei fratelui Billy Graham în România (1985) „s-a aprobat, pentru prima dată, la cererea Uniunii Baptiste, tipărirea Bibliei Cornilescu în țară. Deși fostul Patriarh al Bisericii Ortodoxe Române, Iustin Moisescu, a declarat că această Biblie ar fi eretică și că niciodată nu va fi aprobată tipărirea ei în țară, interesant este faptul că, atunci când ni s-a dat aprobarea, ne-a fost permis să o tipărim la Institutul Biblic al Patriarhiei Române. Personal am adus, împreună cu fr. Hușanu, președintele Uniunii, filmul de la Societatea Misionară Britanică din Londra pentru tipărirea a cinci mii de biblii.”

The role of the historian
